Volleyball:

1. A weather delay pushed this Regional Final to Friday, and No. 7 Rudyard rose to a challenge coming back from dropping the first set to down Pellston in four in Class D – Sault Ste. Marie Evening News

3.  Novi’s Erin O’Leary was named this season’s Miss Volleyball Award winner on the eve of her team’s Class A Quarterfinal against honorable mention Temperance Bedford; Novi is the reigning champ and ranked No. 2 – Observer & Eccentric

4. Class C top-ranked Bronson is plenty familiar with tonight’s Quarterfinal opponent, No. 2 Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central – Sturgis Journal

5. Class B No. 4 Niles is hoping to add to its first District and Regional titles with a first Quarterfinal win, over No. 3 Lake Odessa Lakewood – Niles Daily Star

6. Class A No. 3 Grand Rapids Christian downed top-ranked Rockford in the Regional, a big step as the Eagles pursue their first MHSAA championship in the sport with No. 4 DeWitt up next – FOX17

Girls Golf:

Traverse City West’s Anika Dy was named Miss Golf for the second time by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association – Traverse City Record-Eagle

 

Cross Country:

Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly and Lansing Catholic’s Olivia Theis were named Mr. Cross Country and Miss Cross County, respectively, by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association – Coldwater Daily Reporter

 

Hockey:

1. The first games of the season can be played today, and Petoskey is among teams anticipating a return to the ice – Petoskey News-Review

2. As part of its hockey preview, the Livingston Daily Press & Argus highlighted Mr. Hockey candidates Josh Albring of Hartland and Adam Conquest of Brighton – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Girls Swimming & Diving:

1. Honorable mention Spring Lake will send 10 athletes to the Lower Peninsula Division 3 Finals, including three divers – Grand Haven Tribune

2. Hamilton standout Paige Kuhn is banking on a strong finish in the final meet of her high school career – Holland Sentinel

3. Gaylord sophomore Grace Wambier is a school record holder and hopes to add to her accomplishments at the Division 3 Finals – Gaylord Herald Times

4. No. 7 Brighton is aiming to claim the Division 1 team championship with arguably its strongest assemblage of experienced contenders under coach Jason Black – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

 

Boys Soccer: 

Longtime coach Thaier Mukhtar has resigned as Fraser’s boys coach with nearly 600 wins there and at Warren DeLaSalle – MLive-Detroit

 

Boys Basketball:

Game Recap

Redford Union had a difficult time with a tough Taylor Prep team but ended up victorious as they won in 5 games. Playing well for R. U and leading them to victory were Juniors Mya Comb, Tashia Albert, and Kayla Dixon and Seniors Summer Kirn-Jones and Jamie Goulet. The Panthers next game is Monday night at 7pm against a talented Livonia Stevenson team. See you there.

Game Recap

UNDISPUTED CHAMPS!!!!! The Lady Panther Volleyball team clinched the Conference Championship by defeating Crestwood in 5 games to bring there record to 9-1. The talented Crestwood team was 7-2 coming into the game with a chance to get a share of the championship but it was not to be. Redford Union won games 1 and 3 and had a commanding lead in game 4 but let that slip away. In game 5 they were down 4-1 before Kiara Sharps rattled off 6 points and Jaime Goulet served 3 more to help R. U. take a 15-11 game 5 victory clinching the Championship. Playing outstanding Volleyball for R.U. were All Conference setter Haley Hebner, All Conference Hitters Jakyla Jackson and Kiara Sharps and All Conference Libero Maggie Osowski. Also playing great for the Panthers were Senior Lindsey Pfirrmann, Captain Bria White, Junior Caitlyn Kenney and Senior Jamie Goulet. The Panthers next game is Thursday against Taylor Prep and Monday is the State Districts at Livonia Stevenson against Livonia Stevenson. See you there.

Meet Recap

The girls swim had a nice victory Tuesday night against Redford Thurston. After celebrating senior night two of our senior captains helped to add first place points to the victory: Abigail Bishop 50 free and 100 free; Sarah Bishop 200 free and 100 back. Josie Card added her first place points in diving and posted one of her best scores. Second place finishes were: Elizabeth Hogarth 200 IM; Ayla Kimrey 500 free and Claudia Duggan 100 breast.

Thorton Cain had the only RU touchdown on an 85 yard kick off return. Cain had 122 yards on the night. Issac Grant added 79 yards on 17 carries.
